Fabric, Faire Folk, and Getting Gloriously Lost: The Week That Had It All - THE CRAFTING TABLE STITCHERY

Fabric, Faire Folk, and Getting Gloriously Lost: The Week That Had It All

Some weeks you put your head down and work. And then there are weeks like this one — where every single day brought something unexpected, something magical, or something that made you laugh until you cried. Buckle up, because this one's a story.

The Weekend: Good Times in Goodrich

It all kicked off with Show #1 — and honestly, the name says it all: Good Times in Goodrich. Because that's exactly what it was. Great crowds, great energy, and the beginning of something we didn't see coming: a deep dive into the Renaissance festival community. These people are our people. Makers, dreamers, costume-wearers, and unapologetic creatives who show up fully for every event. The conversations at the booth were some of the best we've had all year. We left buzzing — and with a few new friends we didn't expect.

Wednesday: The Great Oliso Handoff

Still riding the high from Goodrich, we loaded up midweek and headed to Indiana on a Wednesday with one mission: hand off a beloved Oliso iron to its new owner, Becky. If you're a sewist, you understand the weight of this moment. A good iron isn't just a tool — it's a relationship. Passing it on to someone you know will love it just as much? That's a good day right there.

Getting Lost (and Finding the Best Lunch Ever)

With the handoff done, we pointed the car toward Shipshewana and let the day unfold. Shipshewana is a quilter's paradise — rolling Amish countryside, incredible craftsmanship, and quilt shops that make your heart sing and your budget weep (in the best way). We hit shop after shop, running our hands over fabric, scooping up notions, and soaking in that slow, intentional creativity that this community does so beautifully.

Then we got completely lost.

GPS? Useless. Vibes? Immaculate. Getting turned around in rural Indiana led us straight to the most unexpectedly incredible lunch spot — the kind of hidden gem you only find when you stop trying to be somewhere else. We ate well, laughed hard, and decided getting lost was actually the plan all along.

The Bonus Show: A Renfest Parking Lot Market

Here's the thing about making real connections at shows — sometimes they open doors you didn't even know existed. Thanks to the friendships sparked at Goodrich, we scored a spot at a Renaissance festival parking lot market the very next weekend. A parking lot market at a renfest is exactly as magical as it sounds: vendors, faire folk, costumes, community, and the kind of joyful chaos that makes you feel completely alive. We set up, sold fabric to people in full armor, and made even more connections with the renfest world. Honestly? We're obsessed.

The Takeaway

One week. Good times in Goodrich. One iron handoff. One gloriously wrong turn. One bonus parking lot market born from a new friendship. Countless new connections. This is exactly why we do what we do — not just to sell fabric, but to be part of a community of people who make things, love things, and find their people in the most unexpected places.

Indiana, Shipshewana, and the renfest world — we'll be back. You haven't seen the last of us.
