Behind the Seams: Prepping for Market Season (When Your Body Has Other Plans)

Market season is here, and my sewing machine has been running overtime.

I've been deep in production mode — bags, bags, and more bags — getting ready for outdoor markets this summer. There's something electric about the energy of a live market: meeting customers face to face, watching someone fall in love with a piece you made with your own hands. It's why I do this.

But I'd be lying if I said it's been easy.

This season, I've been navigating some real physical challenges — neuropathy and tendinitis that make the long hours at the machine harder than they used to be. Some days my hands don't cooperate the way I need them to. Some days I have to stop earlier than I planned. And some days I wonder if I can keep up the pace this business demands.

But I keep going. Because this isn't just a business — it's a creative practice, a community, and honestly, a lifeline.
